What do you mean, "Supporter?" I will have you know that I joined the Army right after the Korean armistance because I KNEW those sneaky Koreans were going to invade Europe next. So I made sure I was sent to Germany as a "Remington Raider" right afterward. I spent 2 1/2 years pounding a Remington typewriter for an Ordnance Company in Baumholder, and during my time there, the Koreans were so afraid of me that NOT ONE dared try to invade though the Fulda gap!

Everyone, Please contribute your own or other family members service to the US military to update the previous listing of patriots and their families here at SI. I have already received some PMs detailing family service to our great country. My preference is that individuals share more enthusiastically by posting online, but all contributions whether public or SI personal mail will be added. I've never had anyone on ignore and all contributions will be accepted. I plan to give this a week and post the updated list this coming weekend.

(Roll Call - Notes) I got side tracked, but am now compiling this. I don't think I missed any messages. These are the submissions to be added to the current list. If there are more speak now. Any can also ask to be in the "Friends of the Military Section" who don't have military service or other service you wish included.

Father - USAF 23 years

Brother - USAF now Air Force Reserves

Brother - USAF now Air National Guard

Cousins and uncles too numerous to mention. 2 cousins are combat vets, 1 uncle died in combat.

The boys in our family had two options, the military or the union. I picked the union, my brothers were the smart ones. :)

I was a proud forester for 38 years. First service was 1962 as a fire lookout. Last year of service was 2003 as Regional Inventory Specialist.

I considered myself a silviculturist, a forester who specializes in growing and tending stands of trees. I take pride and a good deal of faith in knowing that the forest stands I put my footprints in will be benefit of grandchildren's grandchildren.

I was a medic in the 581st that took care of the ambulance stuff for 2nd Gen at Landstuhl . Also the parts guy and tow truck guy. We were a little short handed.

In the army I drove a multi-fuel deuce and a half that would run on diesel or gas. Hell, it would run on cooking oil. I think running a diesel modern car on gas is the compression ratio. Might blow the engine plus the cylinders wouldn't be properly lubed.

I wore that 7th ARMY patch for 2 1/2 years. About time we pulled out. The problem is, the Officer Corps loves duty in Germany.

You can add me to the USN list and I have a minimum of four cousins that also served during the Viet Nam era, frankly I've lost count on that front.

I'll have to check with the family historian, she knows back past the civil war.

From: Don Rhodes

My service was as a east coast sailor, which pretty well precluded any V.N. duties. One of the cousins was a career officer in the Air Force. The rest, did their bit and got on with their lives.

I can't believe I forgot to add him and will this time, but I also have an uncle who was a SEAL and career Navy. He spent 3 or 4 tours in Vietnam as a "UD" Underwater Demolitionist.

Yes, list me as an Active Supporter for our Military, both active and Veterans....

One son was an Navy Pilot ("Top Gun"- his CO said...P-3) for several years, but left because of all the funding cuts...he felt he just couldn't send his men into harms way with faulty equipment.

My Dad was 4F'd (heart) but his cousin was killed in the Battle of Java Sea on the USS Houston. His father tried to find out for years what happened. Now internet tells us...

Both my Granddads were declined for health issues....WWI

But one of my uncles was killed (Marine) in WWI...

One 2 Great Grandfather was killed as Army Union/Civil War, and a 2 Great Uncle 24 y/o, joined an Union Iowa Regiment because he wanted to be sure we had a Union, but was injured at Pleasant Hill, LA...was a POW, but died one month later. I'm still trying to figure out where he is buried....

Had many earlier who were War of 1812, Rev War, French and Indian War, and at least 2 in King Phillips War....

Impressed with your list of posters with military ties!!

For what it's worth, my brother was in the Air Force during WWII as a bombardier, and flew 34 missions over Germany.

I can't claim military service myself as I was 4F.
