Jan Crawford Greenburg said that six states said they would walk out of the convention if McCain picked Lieberman, which force him to give that up and go back to the drawing board. That's the "big tent" Republican party for you. The Palin thing is all very clever, the true believers seem to believe much more in her than they do in McCain, who always aroused suspicions. If they manage to swing the election on the combination of a Palin - lead culture war revival, endless attack ads of extremely tenuous connection to conventional notions of true, and press bashing whenever anybody calls them on all the crap they're generating, lord help us all.
