Group A - historically focused on large spectacular attacks against the U.S. and European nations

Group B - historically has shown no interest in attacks against the U.S. and European nations

You could say that these two groups are essentially the same, but that would be a misstatement of the facts.

To some people the facts matter, to some they don't.

If the people we are fighting in Iraq are not the people who planned and carried out the attacks of 9/11, I don't see how it could ever be reasonable to say that they are. And that's what Palin said.

It's also notable that at this point AQ in Iraq has been reduced to a shadow of its former self. The fighting that is still being done in Iraq is not directed at them, for the most part.
