Yes, I visited the library this weekend so I saw the anti-Palin rally. It was big, but I think your linked article underestimated the number of counter-demonstrators. It looks like McCain-Palin will sweep Alaska, and the national Obama campaign is already rerouting ad money to other states.

As an independent, I'm unhappy with both parties. Obama offers the same old tired litany of liberal nostrums. McCain had a chance to break out of the mold, but he caved to the conservative base and launched the tried and true divisive Rovian-style campaign.

I just can't get enthused about the resulting identity politics at all. Like millions of other Americans I've lived a mobile, multi-dimensional life with a wide variety of experiences and friends, so I don't fit into these political slots.

So I'll just cling sweetly to my guns and my secular humanism. Nobody for president!
