The reason it's important is because it isn't true that they all want to kill us. Some Islamic groups, such as Hamas, are really only focused on Israel. They haven't ever attacked the US directly. Their only beef with us is that we support Israel, but they are not dedicated to our destruction.

I'm not defending them, or their actions, but saying that they are all our enemies is simplistic. And thinking that we can stop them all by force is naive.

We certainly can't stop the people who attacked us on 9/11 by fighting some other group of people who had nothing to do with that attack.

I understand your explanation, but I don't see why it is important.

I think it's important to say what you mean and to mean what you say. That's one of those basic "things you learn in kindergarten." If you call 911 and tell them you're having pain in your abdomen when it's actually in your chest, they won't treat it as the priority it deserves and might not get to you before you die from a heart attack. Sloppy language can be very costly.

As for this case, look at the wide-spread hostility incurred and productivity lost just because she meant one thing and said another, not to mention the probably persistent negative judgments of her based on it. Had she just spoken more accurately, all that could have been avoided.

They are all the enemy. They all want to kill us. They all must be stopped.

I have been speaking to the quality of her communication and the thought processes reflected in it. The merit of the idea she intended to express is a separate matter.
