Having spent a lot of time on both, I think the motorcycle is safer, provided one remains highly careful about the invisibility of motorbikes to motorists. It is also essential to NOT fall off due to getting into "Wheeeeee!!!! This is fun and look at me go .... arggghhhh.... thunk".

Come to think of it, that's a bit like the stock market. While on a bicycle in my younger days, financially speaking, I did very well. Once I was hooning along at speed, throwing caution to the winds, driving a honking great Tonka Truck at speed, I had a major crash, albeit non-fatal. Actually, I hadn't thrown caution to the winds, but I was NOT feeling fearful and paranoid.
