What is causing the financial breakdown is the sub-prime mortgage crisis which was caused by banks loosening their lending practices to make it easier for poor people to buy homes.

The mortgage meltdown should teach Democrats that wishing won't make it so. Liberals in congress pressured for weaker bank lending laws - House flipping and purchases beyond the buyers ability to repay ensued. The original bank laws prevented this type of economic chaos. When will politically challenged Democrats admit they and their nominee are incapable of competently handling any economic crisis or national security challege?
