The didn't function under such policies because such policies have never existed.

At best Bush has given rhetorical support to laissez fair, and sometimes not even that.

He's fairly consistently increased regulation, and spending on regulatory enforcement has also gone up. I used to say that he's only slowed down the pace of new regulation, but actually looking at the evidence he hasn't done even that.


Tim, stop defending the indefensible. The regulating agencies were not doing their job because of the Bush/GOP attitudes about gov't and a strong belief that the free markets will take care of anything.

Your ideology has failed miserably. Accept it and modify your ideology accordingly.
