Why should he push for more regulation which was unnecessary? He was busy playing tennis. There is plenty of regulation already. Go- save us from even more regulations.

Don't forget his irrational exuberance speech was back in 1995, thirteen years ago. Through 2004, 2005 and 2006 interest rates were raised, raised, raised, raised, raised and after about the tenth you'd think people would get the message but no. Heck, THIS YEAR they STILL didn't get it that their assets were impaired. A month ago they still thought they might get through.

His job was just to keep the US$ Number One and he did that.

He wasn't Superman who could protect Metropolis from Evil-Doers let alone from the irrational exuberance of crazed citizens themselves. He was just running a money supply. No big deal.

Getting so worked up about "dollars" is like motorists blaming weights and measures staff for "gallons" of gasoline being expensive. "It was too cheap so I bought an SUV on the credit card and now the gallons are bankrupting me!!! If the gallons were smaller or more expensive I'd have been okay."
