Rove's greatest work is a little harder to document, but it's pretty ironic. The whispering campaign against none other than John McCain before the South Carolina primary in 2000 was just about the slimiest thing ever. McCain insane from POW torture, McCain has a black love child, and I don't know how much other crap was generated there on W's behalf. It's nice that Rove gets to play like he's above it all on TV these days, I somehow doubt that his disapproval shows up in private communication to Schmidt, though.
