First of all the article doesn't actually make more than the most minimal argument about the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, it just quotes someone as blaming it for the current crisis, without actually providing any support for that idea.

If the act played a part at all it was only a small part.

Secondly notice - "passed by a vote of 90-8" (meaning a lot of Democrats voted for it), and "signed into law by President Bill Clinton", and "Among those voting "aye" were Scathing Sen. Harry Reid and Sen. Joe Biden, Barack Obama's running mate"
