Karen, I survived Hurricane Ike, as the t-shirt might say. Lost 45' of fence but otherwise had no property damage. Still am in the 50+% who have no electricity. On Tuesday I came to my brother's in Dallas and will return to Houston tomorrow. Hope to have power back before long -- it's a real bummer without it. Hope Naomi and PatiBob are okay -- very well may not have electricity.

There's a considerable management difference between Houston Mayor Bill White and NO's Ray Nagin. Galveston has major problems, but they're being dealt with as best I can tell.

There were a lot of people on the west end of galveston island, no seawall protection at all, they rode out the storm. We have it on good authority that those that stayed were washed out to sea. So very sad.
