I think you are correct. When a move of this kind comes off a bottom, it generally signifies a strong reversal in trend. I suspect we many remember this day as the beginning of something big. I would be concerned if this happened after a strong move up, but off a bottom is very bullish

I do think gold suffered from hedge funds' forced liquidation in the past few weeks, pushed in that direction by a catalyst (SEC, Fed, Treasury, FCBs). I have believed that the selling pressure was going to be of short-lived duration and that once it abated, there would be an incredible void of selling pressure. Just the opposite of a short squeeze that drives a stock price to an unsustainable level.

3-month T-Bills hit 0.14% Yield today from what I could see. When that occurs, it's a panic spike not only in Gold but in Treasuries.

It's based upon events that are probably going to be subdued by the end of the week. They're not going to be solved, just subdued, IMO.
