In the 1920s my grandparents moved their family out to a farm. The well was contaminated and they all got typhoid fever. One of my uncles died. My mother's heart was left damaged. In her 50s she finally had to have a heart valve replaced.

Up my way the teachers got a little adult supervision, with good result. Now that supervisor is gone and the situation reverts.
