It takes 60 votes in the senate to pass legislation. The Republicans voted in lock step against all democratic legislation they did not like i.e. Rules and Regulations!!

So the dems would pass legislation in the House and it would get stopped in the senate by the Republicans always voting together.

You know the dems right-lol? We like lots of rules and regulations. Lots of transparency and ethics oversight. So we fight with the Republicans since the early 1900's becasue they like laissez Faire. We dems like Glass Steagall and the New Deal and social Security.

You know this one:

Laissez Faire: the theory or system of government that upholds the autonomous character of the economic order, believing that government should intervene as little as possible in the direction of economic affairs.
2. the practice or doctrine of noninterference in the affairs of others, esp. with reference to individual conduct or freedom of action.

Also,

YOu right wingers want no rules and regulations. Let the free market, in all its wisdom steer our society.

From the New Deal to now, we had no probles as long as the Glass Steagall act kept people in check.

And then that great sage senator Phil Gramm got rid of it in 1999. with 1% interest rates by that Friedman Greespahn we went on a huge feeding frenzy.

This is the result and it will get much worse!!
