We are in uncharted waters with the financial markets.....no telling what the government will end up 'owning'. Tonight on CNBC I just heard a credible source say that floor traders and market makers are ASKING for regulation, lol, because the market is whipping so viciously.

It made me think of the saying 'there are no atheists in foxholes'. Guess there are no free marketeers when market forces move against you. Sheesh....

I always enjoy NPR- and today they were talking about AIG. Funny quote- and I know I've heard it before- but it was like "Everyone wants to privatize gains, and socialize losses..."

So true

Their guest was saying that in terms of AIG- how if it were doing fabulously well, no one would be saying- "Let's share that gain with the US taxpayers by letting them own the company."

Sure, the US would get to tax whatever money didn't get diverted to tax shelters, and actually wound up as income- but owning the company if it were doing well? Not a chance.
