We'll see. I do think $30K is the magic ceiling in order to hit mass market. But there is a mid-market that is viable. So at the current estimated $40K, you'll get a lot of sales. I think they'll have to drive that down to $30K within 3 years to really make a go of it. I hope they have planned on losing money on this business through 2013. They'll have to burn through a billion or two before it turns the corner. Then if they can stick with it, they'll have the market cornered on a game changer...unless Tesla or Toyota beat them to it. No matter how it pans out, there are several heavy hitters out there competing to get to the end state of the electric vehicle. Competition is great, because it will get us their faster.

I bought my last ICE car 11 years ago and I do not intend to buy another one.

Anyway I will let you guys know how the Roadster performs. I'll be putting a PV array on the house next year and will charge the Tesla off of it.

I have another home in the San Juans of Washington State that totally runs off of Solar for electricity, hot water and heat.
There is no grid to the island. I have a back up generator that has not been used in about three years. I do fire it up a couple times a year to make sure the valves don't get rusted up!
