Current Alaska oil production at ~600,000 barrels/day is roughly 12% of US domestic oil production at 5 million barrels/day. Alaska has large natural gas reserves, but gas production is insignificant so I'd leave it out of the discussion entirely. Alaska oil production is still declining from it's peak of around 2 million barrels/day. Here's a current snapshot... North Slope production drops 15 percent in August MAINTENANCE: Oil pipeline, Alpine field shutdowns planned. adn.com North Slope oil production averaged 552,114 barrels per day in August, down 15 percent from July, a drop primarily due to planned shutdowns at the Alpine field and on the trans-Alaska oil pipeline.
