>>Here's a clip from an interview on the Field and Stream website that shows Obama does not understand the Second Amendment at all. He's still talking about 'common sense' infringement, guns are only for hunting, and so forth. I feel compelled to annotate his erroneous thinking.<<

MM -

And speaking of erroneous thinking, Obama doesn't say that guns are "only for hunting. He clearly says in his very first sentence, "gun owners can't be prevented from going out and hunting, protecting their family on their own."

He thinks people should be allowed to have guns to protect their families, as well as for hunting, as made clear in that very first sentence, despite the fact that he talks mostly about hunting there.

Your riffs about AK-47 cartridges ignore the fact that machine guns are illegal already, a fact which you apparently have no problem with. Who cares what the cartridges can or can't do? How is that germane to what Obama was saying? Do people use machine guns to hunt? No, they don't. That's what he said.

You're reacting a lot to what you think he is saying, and not to what he is actually saying.

And by the way, common sense gun regulations no more infringe Second Amendment rights than libel and slander laws infringe the First.
