Skype comes out swinging: accuses US mobile operators of lip service over open access
19/09/2008 14:01:00 - by Commsday

A top Skype official has trashed US mobile operators for speaking with forked tongue on the subject of open networks, accusing incumbent interests of paying the idea lip service for PR purposes while continuing to shut out popular services such as its ownVoIP platform. Government and regulatory affairs senior director, Christopher Libertelli, told Federal Communications Commission chairman Kevin Martin, that the agency needed to either retract its endorsement of open carriage or force operators to conform.

“Consumer choice, competition and free markets, not carriers acting to block competition, should win the day in wireless now, not later,” he wrote in an open letter.
