No, that's simply wrong. Many of them weren't "captured on the battlefield. Look it up. Some were turned over for bounty money by some unsavory characters, they were picked up from their homes in raids, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, they were fingered by enemies and, yes, some were captured during acts of insurgency or terrorism.

But that's the point, isn't it; without a fair process...charges, competent counsel, reliable evidence and an adjudicator who is committed to fairly weigh the evidence without regard for politics or promotion, we can't sort them out.

Your suggestion that we should have killed them is irresponsible and out of line with the values that have stood us in good stead dating from our English common law history....a system of values that Bush and his cheerleaders have placed at risk based on expediency and fear.

It's cowardly and inexcusable. Ed
