I think the Fed is very scared of that possibility, and there
was a coordinated operation in the currency market, plus some
significant short covering. The sky is purple indeed.
Another reason is the lack of dollars abroad due to debt
blow ups (deflation stuff), which probably led to some
purchases of Euro/dollar swaps by the European banks. In
the meantime, CBs were selling the spike.
