Yes it all depends on what the powers that be do next.

But given he almost unanimous support for the concept of massive bailouts by both parties, the financial establishment and the mainstream media looks like the inflationary course will be chosen.

Bill Gross has been pushing to re-inflate and he has been getting his way of late.

The US economy is not the same animal it was when Volker was Fed chairman. Leverage and debt are hugely greater today than in 1980 making a truly tight monetary regime virtually impossible.
