"Our social betters in the investment banking business were given a free hand to gamble away the future of every citizen of the republic, and they crapped out. But rather than vouchsafe the future of the nation, BOTH PARTIES have banded together to save financiers."

"That is why I am not that concerned about more war. The US is broke and broken. The level of US fraud is so blatant they cannot borrow enough money to make up for their crimes and wrongdoing. Their ability to finance more war is seriously hindered." -- Schwarz

This pretty much sums up the article:

<How else can one explain why, against all data and market indicators, Obama's painting the American economy as gloomily as possible?>

"Against all data"??? Jeeez, IBD has gone down hill even futher than the rag it was when I was on WS.

BTW... I forgot about Merrill Lynch... add them to the ever widening mortage RIP list... NOTHING to do with government purposely giving breaks on loans to folks in need either... like 95 % OR MORE of the defaults.
