The Brains that Explain Barack Obama
September 19th, 2008

While an Obama Presidency might be good for Tony Rezko, Saul Alinsky, William Ayers, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Reverend Wright, and Father Phleger, it would not be good for you, the average American. It would not be good for you, the poor American. It would not be good for you, the wealthy American.

Senator Obama’s ascension seems to be a kind of systemic aberration and statistical inevitability. It was only a matter of time before Democrats nominated someone that epitomizes liberal political philosophy. Like Lord Saron, Obama has drawn all the evil to him. So let’s take a look at the brains behind the Barack Obama phenomenon.

Tony Rezko, a fundraiser for the liberal Chicago Machine and close family friend of the Obama’s, was convicted on several counts of fraud and bribery in 2008. Rezko has been a financial supporter of Barack Obama from the beginning.

Saul Alinsky, who compared himself to Lucifer in his book, Rules For Radicals, appears to have taught Obama everything he knows. The Obama campaign has been a textbook application of Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals. Saul Alinsky’s son praised Senator Obama and the Democratic Party for their adherence to his father’s communist philosophies.

“In Artful Dodger style, Barack Obama, plays down his mentorship with Communist author Saul Alinsky. But Alinsky’s son, L. David Alinsky, credits Obama for “learning his lesson well” from the Communist guru.

Indeed, Alinsky Jr. who credits his late father for the success of last week’s Democratic National Convention, may have done something that Obama’s detractors couldn’t: blown the cover on the presidential hopeful’s communist leanings.

No one can blame Alinsky for the pretentiousness of the Ancient Greek Temple from which Obama addressed plebes, or for the tacky neon colours on display at the Pepsi Centre, but it was Alinsky who wrote Rules for Radicals, the bible of the far left.

Says Alinsky’s son L. David Alinsky of his father’s influence at the Dem Convention: “ALL the elements were present: the individual stories told by real people of their situation and hardships, the packed-to-the rafters crowd, the crowd’s chanting of key phrases and names, the action on the spot of texting and phoning to show instant support and commitment to jump into the political battle, the rallying selections of music, the setting of the agenda by the power people.”

“The Democratic National Convention had all the elements of the perfectly organized event, Saul Alinsky style, the Communist guru’s son wrote in a letter published yesterday in the Boston Globe” (http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/4784).

Speaking of radicals, William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn are also friends and fans of Barack Obama. Ayers, a supporter of Militant Liberalism and participant in Chicago’s Days of Rage riots, is the product of the more violent and aggressive interpretations of American Liberalism today. These are just some of the political influences that Senator Obama has chosen to surround himself with. Let’s look at his economic influences.

Franklin Raines, another criminal, became the CEO of Fannie Mae in 1999. Raines was forced to settle for millions of dollars over charges of fraud for overstating earnings as he ran Fannie Mae into its economic grave. This led to John McCain’s call for oversight of Government Sponsored Entities in 2005, where he mentioned Raines by name on the Senate Floor as he tried to get the US government to act to prevent further acts of fraud and corruption. Franklin Raines is now the brains behind the Obama Economic plan.

James “Jim” Johnson, another advisor to Senator Obama, forced to step down after taking personal loans from the CEO of Countrywide, is a long entrenched political operative for the Democratic Party. He was the campaign manager for Walter Mondale. In the late 1980s he was the Corporate Finance Director at Lehman Brothers. Johnson was the CEO of Fannie Mae from 1991 to 1998 (the predecessor of Franklin Raines). Unless I’m mistaken, Countrywide, Lehman Brothers, and Fannie Mae are all at the center of the current Mortgage and Banking fallout shaking up the US Economy. This is the kind of successful agent of devastating change that Senator Obama chooses to surround himself with.

So we’ve seen Obama’s political mentors to be radicals and terrorists. His economic mentors are people at the center of the current economic crisis that is now reverberating throughout the entire global economy. But what about his personal and moral advisors? Who are they?

Reverend Wright, who inspired the title of Obama’s book, The Audacity of Hope, and who married Barack and Michele, was a close personal friend and mentor to the Obama family. Reverend Wright is a student of James Cone’s Black Liberation Theology, a mixture of ethnic racism, Marxist philosophy, and modern Christianity. Obama was forced to abandon his longstanding mentor when the media discovered a treasure trove of anti-American and bigoted comments that appeared throughout Wright’s many vitriolic Sermons. Obama was also forced to distance himself from the extremist principles of Black Liberation Theology. But this is Obama’s church. The church he chose to attend. These are the influences on his moral mind. Sadly, they are just as radical and aggressive as the ideas taken from his economic and political mentors.

Finally, let’s throw Father Phleger into the mix and under the bus, just for fun. Father Phleger had to be suspended by the Catholic Church after becoming politically enraged during the Wright Scandal, making fun of Senator Hillary Clinton and “White Folks”. Fortunately for Senator Obama, Father Phleger isn’t directly connected to him. However, he is directly connected to Obama’s top adviser David Axelrod, who helped Obama direct $250,000 of Illinois funds to Father Phleger’s church. So much for the Democrats being for a separation of Church and State!

These are the minds surrounding Senator Obama, the minds that have influenced and shaped Obama’s political philosophy. These are the thinkers that make up the 9% of Americans who identify themselves as “Very Liberal”, the tiny minority of Americans that Obama really represents. These are the extremists and militants and radicals whose interests will get top billing and have the most influence in an Obama Administration. And this is the candidate that the Democratic Party has nominated for President of the United States.

SOWELL: Idols and crowds
Thomas Sowell
Saturday, September 20, 2008

"A human group transforms itself into a crowd when it suddenly responds to a suggestion rather than to reasoning, to an image rather than to an idea, to an affirmation rather than to proof, to the repetition of a phrase rather than to arguments, to prestige rather than to competence."

Jean-Francois Revel was not referring to the United States when he wrote those words, nor to his own France, but to human beings in general. He was certainly not referring to Sen. Barack Obama, whom he probably never heard of, since Revel died last year.

To find anything comparable to crowds' euphoric reactions to Mr. Obama, you would have to go back to old newsreels of German crowds in the 1930s, with their adulation of their Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler. With hindsight, we can look back on those people with pity, knowing now how many of them would be led to their deaths by the man they idolized.

The exultation of the moment can exact a brutal price after that moment has passed. Nowhere is that truer than when it comes to picking the leader of a nation, which means entrusting that leader with the fate of millions today and of generations yet unborn.

A leader does not have to be evil to lead a country into a catastrophe. Inexperience and incompetence can create very similar results, perhaps even faster in a nuclear age, when even "a small country" - as Mr. Obama called Iran - can wreak havoc anywhere in the world, when they are led by suicidal fanatics and supply nuclear weapons to terrorists who are likewise suicidal fanatics.

Barack Obama is truly a phenomenon of our time - a presidential candidate who cannot cite a single serious accomplishment in his entire career, besides advancing his own career with rhetoric.

He has a rhetorical answer for everything. Those of us who talk about the threat of Iran are just engaging in "the politics of fear" according to Mr. Obama, something to distract us from "the real issues," such as raising taxes and handing out largesse with the proceeds.

Those who have studied the years leading up to World War II have been astonished by how many people and how many countries failed to see what Adolf Hitler was getting ready to do.

Even though Hitler telegraphed his punches, few people seemed to get the message. Books about that period have had such titles as "The Gathering Storm" and "Why England Slept."

Will future generations wonder why we slept? Why we could not see the gathering storm in Iran, where one of the world's leading oil producers is building nuclear facilities - ostensibly to generate electricity, but whose obvious purpose is to produce nuclear bombs.

This is a country whose president has already threatened to wipe a neighboring country off the map. Does anyone need to draw pictures?

When terrorists get nuclear weapons, there will be no way to deter suicide bombers. We and our children will be permanently at the mercy of the merciless.

Yet what are we talking about? Taxing and spending policies, socking it to the oil companies and rescuing people who gambled on risky mortgages and lost.

Are we serious? Are we incapable of adult foresight and adult responsibility?

Barack Obama of course has his usual answer: talk. Rhetoric seems to be his answer to everything. Mr. Obama calls for "aggressive" diplomacy and "tough" negotiations with Iran.

These colorful adjectives may impress gullible voters but they are unlikely to impress fanatics who are willing to destroy themselves if they can destroy us in the process.

Just what is Mr. Obama going to say to Iran that has not been said already? That we don't want them to develop nuclear weapons? That has already been said, every way that it can possibly be said. If talk was going to do the job, it would already have done it by now.

Go to the United Nations? What will they do, except issue warnings - and when these are ignored, issue more warnings?

But what does Mr. Obama have besides talk - and adoring crowds?

From Jay Leno's Monologues:

Did you all see Sarah Palin's interview with Charlie Gibson? In fact, John McCain was watching it at home and at one point he turned to his wife and said, "She looks really familiar."

As you know, the Republicans are still keeping her away from the mainstream press. ... Actually, Sarah Palin is going from her interview with Gibson on ABC to one with Sean Hannity on Fox. That should be hard hitting! That's like going from hardball to tee ball, isn't it?

Sarah Palin said she is ready for Sean Hannity. In fact, she spent all day today writing out the questions he's going to ask her.

If you saw the big interview with Gibson, Sarah Palin quoted Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln said, "Let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side." Here's the amazing part. You know who Abraham Lincoln said that to? John McCain. [Ronald Reagan used to tell a version of this joke on himself.--AB]

In the Gibson interview, a lot of people thought Charlie Gibson was unfair to her. They thought he was talking down to her. That was one of the comments. Like when he asked her about the so-called Bush doctrine. Most people aren't familiar with the Bush doctrine. I mean, we are, but we know it by another name: "Murphy's Law."

Here's something I mentioned last week. For some reason the Secret Service revealed this. Sarah Palin's Secret Service code name is "danali." Turns out denali is an old Eskimo word that means Dan Quayle.

And here are some of Leno's political jokes on Friday:

If you watched TV last night, you know that Charlie Gibson did something John McCain has never done: interviewed Sarah Palin.

Last night Sarah Palin gave an interview with ABC's CHarlie Gibson. Earlier today her future son-in-law was on Maury Povich: "You are the father!"

At one point Charlie Gibson asked Palin about the Bush doctrine but she didn't know what it was. To be fair, even Bush doesn't know what the Bush doctrine is.

That was the big bone of contention on the cable talk shows. Supporters of Palin say that it's OK she doesn't know what the Bush doctrine is because the average American doesn't know what it is. Shouldn't the bar be a little higher for this job? Shouldn't it be a little above average? I'm mean, let's be honest we already had an average guy as president. It didn't work out that great.

The most important question that i would have asked her last night? "How were you treated at ABC? Are they nice people? Are they easy to work with?" That's what i would have asked.

Sarah Palin was also asked if we might have to go to war with Russia. She said, "perhaps so." Perhaps so? Isn't that like a magic 8-ball kind of answer? Will we have to go to war? "Reply hazy. Try again later. It is decidedly so."

Today the Secret Service revealed that Sarah Palin's Secret Service code name is "denali." Here's my question, what's the secret part? I mean if the Secret Service is going to give you a Secret Service code name, shouldn't they keep it a secret? Why not just call her Sarah?

They also revealed that Sarah's husband Todd, who works in the oil field...His Secret Service code name is "driller." I guess they figured Bill Clinton wasn't using it anymore.

And as you know they've already come out with a Sarah Palin action figure. Today the Democrats released a Joe Biden action figure, and it talks...and talks...and talks... You can't get the thing to shut up.

And the other day while talking to a group of supporters, Joe Biden said that Hillary Clinton might have been a better pick for vice president than him. Yeah, that's one way to get the base fired up, huh? Tell them they picked the wrong person.

Taibbi says Palin a symbol of everything wrong with modern US

jazz-from-hell.blogspot.com

22 September 2008

In the latest (Oct. 2) issue of Rolling Stone, on sale now but not yet available online, writer Matt Taibbi calls out the American electorate in a major new piece called 'The Lies of Sarah Palin.' A snippet:

"Here's the thing about Americans. You can send their kids off by the thousands to get their balls blown off in foreign lands for no reason at all, saddle them with billions in debt year after congressional year while they spend their winters cheerfully watching game shows and football, pull the rug out from under their mortgages, and leave them living off their credit cards and their Wal-Mart salaries while you move their jobs to China and Bangalore.

"And none of it matters, so long as you remember a few months before Election Day to offer them a two-bit caricature culled from some cutting-room-floor episode of Roseanne as part of your presidential ticket. And if she's a good enough likeness of a loudmouthed Middle American archetype, as Sarah Palin is, John Q. Public will drop his giant sized bag of Doritos in gratitude, wipe the sizzlin' picante dust from his lips and rush to the booth to vote for her. Not because it makes sense, or because it has a chance of improving his life or anyone else's, but simply because it appeals to the low-humming narcissism that substitutes for his personality, because that image on TV reminds him of the mean brainless slob he sees in the mirror every morning.

"Sarah Palin is a symbol of everything that is wrong with the modern United States. As a representative of our political system, she's a new low in reptilian villainy, the ultimate cynical masterwork of puppeteers like Karl Rove. But more than that, she is a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power. Not only is Sarah Palin a fraud, she's the tawdriest, most half-assed fraud imaginable, 20 floors below the lowest common denominator, a character too dumb even for daytime TV – and this country is going to eat her up, cheering every step of the way. All because most Americans no longer have the energy to do anything but lie back and allow ourselves to be jacked off by the calculating thieves who run this grasping consumer paradise we call a nation."

Years before Phil Gramm was a McCain campaign adviser and a lobbyist for a Swiss bank at the center of the housing credit crisis, he pulled a sly maneuver in the Senate that helped create today's subprime meltdown...
