us tax payers do not matter, because debt does not matter, and so debtors do not matter, just tax cows to be milked ;0/

just in in-tray

So many investors will take time and effort to recover from what happened in recent weeks, even with rebounds.

And the structure of the hedge fund industry is going to have significant changes as a result of arbitrary/threat of regulatory shifts.

Among other meetings, we spent time with an established hedge fund mgr at a medium sized hedge fund a few days ago.

-- In broad terms they were up about 4% YTD into last week and down some 3% by the end of the week (obviously some financials in there, as HFRX Indices seems to indicate about 1-2% impact across the board)

-- They got their thinking and trades right using both long and short positions

-- Then they got blown out of water by SEC decisions last week

-- Some of their trades will continue to be affected, though they will find new strategies

-- Initial gut feeling was they may have shrink funds, cut costs, etc

-- At minimum, re-thinking of parts of the hedge business will be needed

-- Whenever they have a short on a company, they fear they won't get meeting 'cause they'll go on "lists"

-- Threat of govt arbitrary decisions will mess with investment strategies

-- Macro trades should be unaffected, but this type of strategy is not for all

Time will tell...
