I think it is VERY good advice to get an engineering report that you own, just in case there are disagreements with your ensurer. It will cost a few hundred dollars but might save you endless grief.

We were told State Farm is bringing in an engineer and suggested we do the same. A little shift isn't bad, a big shift is.
