truly despicable, but they're pandering to their base So even if my some miracle the government ends up in the black they aren't giving you the benefit, they are using it to house crack addicts.

It would be fine if they paid a straight rebate to taxpayers. Otherwise it's bullcrap.

"A provision that would require the Treasury to take 65 percent of any profits it makes from the newly purchased assets and put it into the federal government's HOPE program, an affordable housing program." Not funding the bailout would result in a lot more "affordable housing" as RE prices would decline in any widespread washout. What they want to do is provide government subsidies for "unaffordable" housing.
