well that could be but facts are that Obama went into this race with the Kerry states + Iowa. It was sharply TIED going into the race and both Obama and McCain knew it. Obama had a huge lead when he picked Biden, I am convinced Biden was chosen for his ROLE in the Obama campaign and not his ability to deliver votes, an error on Obama's part as the race tightened up because Obama could have picked Warner or Bayh and gotten just ONE STATE out of his VP pick and won. Instead with Biden he has some help with the catholic vote (which is not nothing- Biden helps with the Hillary voters) but thats it. For McCain, Romney would have delivered MI, McCain needed to choose a VP that could have delivered a Kerry state. that would have made all the difference. Palin fired up the base but its the same old base, which btw is shrinking in VA and NC as silicon valley expands out there.
