Thanks, just sent it to Merkley with a minor tweak:

Future Senator Merkley,

As of last week, Republican Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson proposed an overreaching bill that grants him unprecedented power and a blank check to "solve" the problem with toxic loans held by banks and brokerages by giving exorbitant amounts of money to those who created this nightmare. Your opponent jumped on the bandwagon with disconcerting enthusiasm, to sign the blank check, hand it to Paulson and sell out the little guy once again.

My family, friends and coworkers are incredibly outraged by this. Never has a grab for power (and unlimited taxpayer expenditures) been acquiesced to in such a cowardly way by incumbents. Please vow to protect the interests of the American middle class, and use this issue to further distinguish yourself from Senator Smith. You'll be glad you did, and We the People will all be better off by bringing some real discussion to bear on this issue. He's handing you this one on a plate!

Your prospective constituent,
