Lower taxes - on anybody - doesn't fit their ideology.

Only higher taxes do because that means a higher level of control, and that's what socialism is all about, ultimate control at 100% taxation - or in other terms, state ownership of (whatever is left of) the economy.

Most recent example: Zimbabwe.

There is a very strong propensity for those on the Left to ignore the history of taxation and its effects. Never mind what has worked and hasn't -- if it doesn't fit the ideology, we'll just hammer the concept.

If trickle down worked, people might be for it. However, there is little evidence that it does anything to improve the economy. Instead, it looks to be another freebie for rich Republicans whose ideology encourages the stealing of as much money from the US Treasury without getting caught.
