Maybe in a rational world, or one where AIG was the only sick patient. The problem is that the economy has sepsis. It's circulation system - loaned money - almost shut down last week, which would have had disastrous effects on the economy.

this was another thing I was rattling on (on another thread). First of all, the persecution by Spitzer of all these executives like Greenberg really riled me, although I know there are many Spitzer supporters, but when you really look at most Spitzer prosecutions, what he did was prosecute these executives on some grey area accounting rule. I think Greenberg was like that because thats what Frank Quattrone was and all the other ones. Accountants are the ones who tell these execs how to do their books.

So now here we are in a crisis, and everybody calls GREENBERG to right the ship, just like when Steve Jobs was the only guy who could fix apple.

They should have given AIG back to Greenberg and pardoned all the BS spitzer prosecutions and told Frank he was on his own and that would have taken care of it.
