Well like I say, I don't mean to sound like a dick but they made the choice to not evacuate. There is no reason that the Coast Guard or civilian safety workers need to risk their lives while the storm is active. People need to get it through their minds that when we say evacuate we mean it and if you don't you are totally on your own until the storm subsides.

Perhaps I'm cold because of my training on the submarine. If the flooding alarm goes off you shut the water tight door and dog it. If your trapping men in the compartment that is flooding that is a shame, but you still shut and dog the door. Saving the ship is more important then saving a dozen men in a flooding compartment.

Saving safety workers by not sending them into the teeth of the storm is the same good business. We need those men and women when the storm is over. Besides what often happens is by sending them into the teeth of it you just end up with more people in need of rescue.
