Especially in this election, there is no way the pollsters have a handle on all the variables in this election. There is the Bradley Effect (racism that people will not admit to a pollster but will effect them when they actually vote. I'm not saying its right..it's just a fact in this election)Estimates range from 5-10% of those polled are effected. There is the Palin Effect. Again I highly doubt the pollsters understand it because there really isn't any precedence for what has happened. How do you accurately poll for something none of us fully understand yet. It's still a phenomenon unfolding in front of us. Surely we will have an October surprise or two, or three yet. Obama has plenty of shady associations in his closet, and the Dems must be thinking revenge after feeling they were slimed with the Swiftboat ads. (I don't feel they were slimed at all, I'm just saying they think they were.) If I still haven't convinced you to ignore the polls take a look at the following post I made the day before the election in 2004. Many of the links probably do not work anymore, but the headlines were real...and pretty funny to look at now. This is our "expert" press and "expert" polling in action the day before and the day of the election in 2004. Notice how they are practically telling people to not bother with voting the day of the election...leaked exit polls tell them Kerry will win...Yeah right! Bastards. A number of political websites are predicting the Democratic challenger will sweep into the White House with victories in a number of the key battleground states. Their claims are based on what they claim are leaks of exit POLL data. Figures published on the Slate website suggest John KERRY will win the key battleground states of Florida and Ohio, each by a 1% margin.guardian.co.uk The Election Is KERRY's To Lose By John Zogby have made a career of taking bungee jumps in my election calls.
