McCain's an old fighter pilot. Having noticed that his opponent does not react nimbly when the unexpected happens, we should not be surprised if McCain arranges for the unexpected to happen as often as he can, and then forces Obama to react.

It's known as the "OODA Loop." Invented by Colonel John Boyd, who was a United States Air Force fighter pilot and military strategist of the late 20th century. His theories have been highly influential in the military and in business. VP Cheney is a big fan of his. You will often hear it referred to as "getting inside your opponent's time cycle."

Which is precisely what MaCain is doing.
