the price they pay for the asset has no direct correlation to the property taxes collected on the house the loan was made on.

Value of property is $10M. Loan was $9M. I but the loan for $5M. Property taxes are still based on the $10M value until they get revised down or the actual house is sold.

again, two seperate issues in my mind.

The spread on 5-45 is based on the various tranchers, and yes it really is that wide, if not wider in my mind. The problem i see is not the spread, but if the Treasury takes a blanket approach to all the assets, ie pay 65 cents for the 5 cent piece.
