i wasn't saying the assets couldn't be priced...reread my post...i said the prices offered are being rejected...

that's because if those prices stick, it pretty much insures insolvency of the seller....quelle shock that the WS banks are digging in

as far as holding the assets on the books and allowing smaller write downs...i'm on record that i'm in favor of that....the reason the investment banks really don't want to see that, is because to quote the warren buffet (back when he was supposedly a true capitalist) you don't know who's swimming naked until the tide goes out...the bailout is being pleaded for by WS because they don't want the extent of their 'exposure' revealed
