What was Argentina. The provincial governments didn't want to rein in their spending.
The government could not persuade them to cut spending.

It came a time there was no mor emoney and hard decisions needed to be taken.

There were two options:
1) Face the problem.
Murphy wanted this option one and cut government spending, sack redundant civil servants and paying for the costs of the government funded universities,

2) Muddle through.
Cavallo wanted this one and they defaulted. They still have to solve the problem, becaise muddling through only delay the pain.

In the case of the US the real causes underlying the debalce are not being discussed.
