So WTF are people doing here with positions? I've been just laying low after flattening out on the short-sale ban. I don't want to remain flat forever, but assume it's best to wait until there's some clarity regarding the rules going forward. Despite all the distraction, I'm guessing the recession is only deepening as I'm writing this. Events like the WaMu failure don't serve to reinforce confidence. I'm thinking about expaning anti-retail shorts and REITs, assuming they aren't in the Book of Life II.

I see Chancels' chicken spread came home to him. Damned sorry I missed out on that one.

IB continues to issue warnings every day about needing to buy-in about a half-dozen of my shorts. It makes it rather unnerving to be short anything, but I'm pretty persistent. Makes me more inclined to just short indices and ETFs.

I'm also wondering what people are thinking regarding the lifting of short-selling ban on Oct. 2. Is it going to be a rough day? Or is everyone scared $hitless that Cox will come up with some other heavy-handed intervention?
