RE:"You have no idea how sick I am of the expression: let the free markets take care of the problem. Its free markets that got us into the subprime mess; its free markets that did nothing for years as Americans became more and more addicted to oil. I think its time to burn free markets in effigy."

Sheeez, Ted is a Marxist-Leninist. g

Obviously Ted does let himself sound like a marxist when making such ridiculous statements. However i too am tired of hearing "let the free markets take care of the problem". Sometimes the free market cant do it alone. And in this country in this time we are faced with infrastructure, energy, health and health insurance, environmental, 2 wars, a larger war on terror and now the economy all getting away from us. The above doesnt lend itself to pure free market solutions. What we need is a Marshall Plan for America and by Americans. Its a monumental task and we all have our doubts about how much can be done and how quickly but its clear that the above issues cant be resolved without govt involvement. Now lets keep that involvement as minimalist as possible and make capitalism an integral part of the solution in partnership with Uncle. If we dont, we go down the tubes and thats what ted is right about.
