A commentator last night theorized it is because McCain must demonize his opponents in order to attack them. It is usually true with the black-and-white people out there - like McCain and Bush. They can't conceive of an opponent with an honest disagreement - that opponent must be evil, stupid, or inexperienced. Their 'my way or the highway' approach is what got us into these multiple messes. Obama can see that people have different approaches to the same problem. That realization will go an enormous way to finding common ground between the polarized camps created by Rove and the conservatives.
