The red states are basically tax parasites. They disproportionally suck down all the tax money now from the blue states.

The red states would also fall apart militarily and economically, since virtually all the scientific and technology innovation is in the blue states. Scientists and educated creative types generally shun the red states, given the stifling Taliban mentality that is dominant there.

So after succession all the red states would basically be left with guns, fried pork skins and ignorant fat people. But fortunately for them, they'd have plenty of all three.
