"I think gold and Proshares ultrashort indices should do well"

Not too sure ultrashort is any good.. All this ultrashort invest in swap to get their exposure to various index.. What if the counter party die in this financial storm? Do we even get our money back or just take a haircut on the swap loss?? None of the sponsor of these various short disclose their counter parties.. It is hard to judge whether it is safe.. May be a put of various index may be better. At least you have the clearing house standing behind it (may be??). When you get to systematic meltdown, it is very random as to who get hit and who doesn't?
