If I had to guess, I’d say the 8 lost points consisted of 2 points from fallout related to the credit crisis and 6 points from voters’ pulling away due to doubts about Palin. JMHO, FWIW


That's silly. People don't decide based on the bottom of the ticket. No vp pick was more excoriated than Dan Quayle, but it didn't stop GHW Bush from being elected. And people still like Palin better than Biden!

Six points due to the VP pick? C'mon. Historically, the person in the VP slot is not a major factor in elections. Voters vote based on the top of the ticket. Are you saying the Palin pick was such a game changer from historic patterns that sudden doubts about her over a several week period resulted in a 6 point drop? I find that hard to believe.
