I think the Repubs did the right thing.

Glad you think that. We'll see if the country thinks that, in the polls.

Because what I think is, this was a complicated issue that required leadership. The bubba vote was immediately against it and was very loud. But rather than giving this some THOUGHT, and evaluating the options, republicans just caved to their ignorant base.

But then the market fell 777 points in a giant gotcha maneuver. Now the silent majority of all these businesses that are worried about making payroll and paying for their inventory are calling up those jokers en masse. This bill or one like it will pass soon, and these republican turkeys will take ANOTHER hit on election day.

Given that type of behavior it is surprising that 12% of the population is satisfied with the performance of our senators. Although really that performance is no more shameful than when they were trying to skim funds to ACORN from the bill. I wonder what the next bill will say: the seller of securities must donate $x to the democratic party or ACORN for each $1000 of securities sold to the taxpayers?
