i'm for business getting credit to buy a new widget to up productivity.

you said: "don't try to get a loan on a new placer mine today."

no, not now. but when someone wants gold bad enough they'll find a way to lend the money for someone to go after it. when there's enough profit in it, it will be easy to get a loan.

farmers didn't use to need a loan to buy fertilizer. they used to pay up front for it.

by financing everything, we make everything more expensive. when we take out a loan we have to pay it back (at least we used to) plus interest. if we planned for something that we could get a loan on anyway, we could pay for in full if we saved for it, instead of going into debt.

sometimes we need credit, but most often we don't..

and yes, we got our grandchildren into debt. it was immoral and we should try to correct it.. but we won't, will we?
