You do realize this is the end of the quarter, and expiration of all the quarterly index option series? Hold the bravado laugh until you see what tomorrow holds. Today was all about either rolling the option protection out or closing those hedged positions entirely. Fear might well return tomorrow when unwanted positions take on 'new' risk profiles.

Guess we can survive a credit lock-up just fine, if Mr. Market is to be belived.
