<< use of undocumented APIs in MSFT applications>>

I'm sure there are people who use undocumented APIs, at Microsoft or at other software houses. It is a double-edged sword and few serious developers would encourage this practice.

Microsoft is also not as all powerful as outsiders might think. A couple of examples: Quicken, despite its popularity, is a piece of shit. It was originally wrote by fewer than 5 or 6 guys and with all the manpower at MS, they haven't been able to displace this ugly garbage.
AOL is another piece of shit. But the initial version of MSN stank even worse. I gave up MSN even after its reincarnation with sight & sound, etc.
And remember Bob? I believe Bob was brainchild or at least pet project of Gates's missus. What brains she had!
There are countless failures, abandoned projects at the company but most outsiders just know about the success of Windows, Office, and IE.
