They were pretty overleveraged. I'm not really sure how this fits in the grand strategy, and I'm not sure what happens if the bailout bill fails. Maybe Sheila feeds C to WFC next.......<G>

Someone (can't remember who) recently said the problem with all these bank mergers is the megabank survivors will truly be too big too fail. Maybe that's the strategy. Create a handful of giant pigs whose balance sheets look like Mr. Creosote. Then hover over them with the wafer-thin debt mint, while demanding ransom from J-zero-P.
