There has been a lot of talk about the VIX. Does anyone really think this is a legitimate indicator anymore considering the ban on short selling, etc?

We almost hit 50 and I have a feeling it is going higher.

Do you know offhand what market closures have occurred over the past 100 years or so? I'd be curious to see the price behavior around the closures.
